Student Submission Forms
The 70th Annual Convention of the Mississippi Psychological Association (MPA) is scheduled for September 25 – 27, 2019 at the IP Casino Resort Spa in Biloxi, MS.
Students are specially invited to submit under two designated programming categories that will be considered for the Student Poster Research Award and the Student Data Blitz Research Award. These awards include a monetary award and are announced at the breakfast on Friday morning.
Student Poster Presentations (Thursday evening, September 26, 2019):
Poster sessions allow presenters and attendees to engage in extended discussions regarding the author’s work, presented in illustrated form on a poster board. If your poster is selected, you must supply your own poster board, not to exceed 4’ wide by 6’ high. You must also supply any pushpins, Velcro fasteners, or tape which you may need. A single tripod easel will be provided for your poster. No lighting, electronic equipment, or freestanding displays will be permitted; unless a special waiver is granted by the Program Chair.
Student data blitz oral presentation:
The Data Blitz Oral Presentation allows students the opportunity to provide a brief (5-7 minute) oral presentation of a research project. Master’s Thesis and Dissertation projects will receive first priority for Data Blitz Oral Presentations; however, other projects are welcome. Submissions not selected for oral presentation will be considered for poster presentation.
Over the last two years MPA has accepted donations from MPA members to encourage students to participate in the annual convention. As a result, a dozen students were able to pay for their hotel rooms, travel, or meals.
Please note the following guidelines when requesting travel grants:
The number and amount of grants awarded will be determined by the amount of funds donated by MPA members.
Travel Grants should be submitted by August 12, 2019.
